Anthropic is launching connectors that plug Claude directly into Blender, Adobe, Ableton, Autodesk and other creative tools. For Norwegian businesses, that means designers, engineers and content producers can collaborate with AI inside the software they already use, without switching platforms.
What's new?
Anthropic has announced "Claude for Creative Work", a bundle of connectors that give Claude access to established creative tools. In practice, you can talk to Claude in plain language and ask it to carry out tasks directly inside the software you work in.
Connectors available from day one:
- Blender: Analyze 3D scenes, build scripts for batch changes, explore documentation via natural language. The Blender community built the MCP connector themselves, and Anthropic has joined as a patron of the Blender Development Fund.
- Adobe Creative Cloud: Pull in images, video and design from over 50 Creative Cloud tools, including Photoshop, Premiere and Express.
- Autodesk Fusion: Create and modify 3D models in Fusion through conversation with Claude. Requires a Fusion subscription.
- Ableton: Get answers about production in Live and Push based on official product documentation.
- Affinity by Canva: Automate batch image processing, layer naming and file export.
- SketchUp: Describe a room, a piece of furniture or a concept, and have it open as a 3D model in SketchUp.
- Splice: Search a catalog of royalty-free samples directly from Claude.
- Resolume Arena and Wire: Control live visuals in real time via natural language, aimed at VJs and visual artists.
Anthropic is also launching "Claude Design" from Anthropic Labs, a product for visually exploring and iterating on software experiences, with export to Canva and others.
Why this is different from "AI in a chat window"
Until now, most AI tools for creative professions have functioned as a conversation partner in a separate window. You copy something from Blender, paste it into ChatGPT, get an answer, and copy it back. It works, but it is clunky.
Connectors change this by letting Claude operate inside the tool. You avoid context switching. For a Norwegian business producing 3D visualizations, marketing videos or product design, this means a shorter path from idea to finished result.
The Blender connector is built on MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard. This means the connector works with other language models too, not just Claude.

How connectors work technically
All connectors are built on MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard. When you ask Claude to do something in Blender, the request is sent through the MCP connector which translates it to Blender Python API calls.
This means you can inspect what is being sent, and that the connector is not locked to Claude.
Pitfalls
- Connectors are new. Expect bugs, missing features and changes.
- Data is sent to Anthropic's servers. Consider confidentiality before processing sensitive files.
- Claude does not replace skills. You still need to know how to use the tool.
- Costs add up. Claude Pro + existing tool licenses = total cost.
