AI Consultant in Norway

An AI consultant, also called an AI advisor, finds the tasks where artificial intelligence saves time and puts the solution into operation. AIKI does this for Norwegian businesses from our office in Oslo, at a fixed price. This guide explains what an AI consultant does, what it costs in 2026, and how to choose the right one.

When do you need an AI consultant?

Most Norwegian businesses lack in-house AI expertise. Here are five signs you should consider an external AI consultant:

  • Your team spends more than 20 hours per week on repetitive tasks that could be automated
  • Competitors have started using AI, and you feel you are falling behind
  • You have tried AI tools on your own without achieving the desired results
  • Leadership wants an AI strategy, but nobody internally knows where to start
  • You need to streamline customer service, sales or administration quickly

What does an AI consultant do?

An AI consultant covers the whole path from idea to operation. The work nearly always follows five steps, and the order matters more than the tools.

  1. 1

    Mapping

The consultant interviews management and staff, walks through the processes and finds the tasks that take the most time. At DF Wiig, the mapping took three days on site, with six in-depth interviews and ten systems.

  2. 2

    Prioritisation

Every possible measure gets an estimate of gain, effort and risk. The result is a roadmap with sequence and ownership that leadership can decide on.

  3. 3

    Building

The solution is built into the systems you already use, such as CRM, ERP, email, spreadsheets or your website. Typical deliverables are chatbots, AI agents, document processing and automated workflows.

  4. 4

    Training

Employees learn to use the solution and the AI tools safely. A solution nobody uses delivers no gain.

  5. 5

    Operation and measurement

After launch, impact is measured against an agreed baseline, such as time saved, response time or fewer errors. The solution is adjusted as the workflow changes.

AI consultant, AI advisor or KI consultant?

They are three names for the same role. KI is the Norwegian abbreviation for artificial intelligence (kunstig intelligens), and AI is the English one. A KI consultant and an AI consultant do the same work.

AI advisor is often used for the strategic part: mapping, prioritisation and roadmap. AI consultant tends to cover the whole journey, including building and operation.

The title says little about what you get. Ask instead whether the consultant both advises and puts the solution into operation, and whether the price is fixed or billed by the hour.

What does an AI consultant cost in Norway in 2026?

An experienced AI consultant in Norway typically costs NOK 1,500–2,500 per hour. Specialists in language models and AI agents often charge NOK 2,500–4,000 per hour. These figures are AIKI's market estimate. No public statistics isolate AI consultants, so use them as a budget frame.

AIKI's Approach

AIKI combines the role of AI consultant with the role of implementation partner. We start by understanding your business, map the processes, and identify the most valuable AI opportunities. Then we build and implement the solution, train the team, and measure the impact. For long-term development we offer AI Partner agreements, where you get a dedicated advisor and continuous improvement of the solutions.

AI consultant in Oslo

AIKI is based at Karl Johans gate 13 in central Oslo. Businesses in the Oslo area are welcome to meet us in person for mapping, workshops and courses, at your premises or at our office.

Our clients are spread across Norway, including Bergen, Voss and Stavanger. Most development work happens digitally, with in-person meetings when they add value.

The first conversation takes 30 minutes and is free. We look at goals, time sinks and data, and recommend a concrete first step.

Checklist: how to choose an AI consultant

Ask these eight questions before you sign. Good answers to all eight are a strong sign.

  1. 1Can the consultant show a solution they have put into operation at a business of your size?
  2. 2Is the price fixed, or billed by the hour? What happens when the scope changes?
  3. 3Who owns the code, the data and the prompts when the engagement ends?
  4. 4Where is the data processed, and is there a data processing agreement and storage in the EU/EEA?
  5. 5What will be measured before and after, and who measures it?
  6. 6How do employees get trained, and who follows up after launch?
  7. 7What happens if the consultant falls ill or leaves?
  8. 8Can you start with a defined delivery before committing to a larger engagement?

How to prepare for the first meeting with an AI consultant

The first meeting is far more useful if you have done some homework. You don't need a finished AI strategy, but you should know where the time goes today.

Pick two or three tasks that come up every week, and write down roughly how many hours they take, who does them and which systems they touch. Typical examples are answering the same customer questions, moving data between systems, writing quotes or reading through documents. Concrete tasks lead to a concrete conversation, while "we want to do something with AI" leads to general advice.

Make a simple list of the tools you use, such as CRM, ERP, email, spreadsheets and industry systems, and whether you already have access to ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot. That lets the consultant see quickly what can be connected and what needs more work.

Finally, agree on which data cannot be shared with external services, who makes the decision, and what a good result means for you: time saved, faster response times, fewer errors or more sales. With this in place, a short call is often enough to see whether there is a profitable first delivery, and whether it should start with mapping, training or building.

Start with a pilot

  • Price after scoping

    excl. VAT, fixed price

  • One task

One defined automation in the systems you already use

  • 4 weeks

    until the solution is live

Agreed goal before start. If we miss it, we fix it for free.

Afterwards: AI Partner at Price after scoping (normally 6 months' commitment), and the pilot amount is deducted from the first month. Or you stop.

In new projects, personal data is only processed on servers in the EU. Read about data and security
